Without question, the most widely used and specified hawthorn tree is ‘Winter King’, as shown to the left. It was introduced to the nursery industry by Robert Simpson in the late 1950’s. The original tree, which is still alive in Vincennes, IN is still growing and probably about 100 years old - one of many Simpson introductions.
